Highlights Of the Kabale High Court Bar-Bench Meeting
The Kabale High Court recently held a Bar-Bench meeting chaired by the Resident Judge, Justice Samuel Emokor with advocates in Kabale High Court and the Chief Magistrates Courts of Kabale and Kisoro.
In attendance were all members of the Bench at Kabale High Court and Chief Magistrate Courts of Kabale and Kisoro.
Some of the issues raised included the need for proper records management to counter missing documents onfiles.
They also raised complaints about the time spent at court since the Judge has been handling criminal sessions and hearing cases of civil nature.
A challenge of accessing typed court records in the magistrates' courts was raised.
It was agreed that both the High Court and Chief Magistrate Courts will start hearing cases at 9:00 am to fix the delays and reduce time spent by lawyers at court.
The meeting resolved that registers be put in place to register every document filed at courts to curb the issue of missing documents.
The respective heads of stations agreed to create solutions to avert the issue of asking for money to access judgement at court.
The Resident Judge encouraged the members of the bench to try and increase the number of judgment output in order to avert delay in judgments issued.
